Virginia law and Federal law require that only US citizens may vote in federal and state elections. The job of ELECT is to utilize the SAVE program and work with the Department of Homeland Security to ensure that only citizens are on Virginia’s voting rolls. ELECT has failed in past years to work with DHS on this issue. Individual County Registrars need a common-sense tool to allow them to maintain our voter lists to ensure compliance with this requirement. Therefore, I fully support this initiative.
