There is an urgency here. Not only to our family members who are on a constant journey with their own disabilities, but to the family members that are entrusted to provide the best possible care. This type of care that only a family member can provide, takes the utmost effort and dedication, not unlike a trying and physically demanding full-time job. Decades have passed with little to no financial support for individuals with disabilities. Finally caregivers that are family members can be compensated for their efforts. Please do not take this necessary benefit away from the families that have come to depend on these meager monetary allocations. For many, this a life-changing decision, left again in the hands of the legislature.
