Pet Stores: Need Stronger regulations and enforcement

Hello,

I'm a native-born Virginian - 73 years old, currently live in Manassas.  I have volunteered at several animal shelters, and am deeply concerned about dogs, cats, and other animals.

It's very important that Pet Stores maintain the same standards at least as shelters.  Pet stores hold animals' lives, and they need to be just as accountable at least as our shelters.

Pet stores need to be monitored; their welfare standards need to be strong. And importantly, if violations are found, there needs to be substantial, meaningful penalties...fines to be paid.  Fines that are large enough - such as $1,000 - that they will have impact, and should make the violating pet store correct the matter.

The animals who are there deserve at least this minimal care and concern from us.  Thank you.
