Charitable Gaming Regulations (Under Development)

As elected Lawmakers I understand that you are charged with 'finding' money via taxes to pay for services, etc. for the Citizens of Virginia.  I also understand the Lobbying that has occurred with the 'Rosies',  MGM and other (for profit) and future gaming/gambling ventures in our State.

To now take this proposed 40% from non-profits, fraternal organizations to supplement the coffers shows that you have been 'lobbied' unfortunately... There are other ways to generate more revenue.... re-looking at where you benchmark, appropriated/taxed income, etc. and 'smartly' sharpen your pencils.

The work that these fraternal organizations do, the monies they provide to charities, the homeless, the sick and needy are something you should research before proposing this blanket, outrageous tax.  This will have a very real and immediate impact on those in need.

Of course non-profits have to pay employees, overhead, utilities, insurance, etc.  You are going down a slippery slope when you mandate exactly how an organization will spend their revenue. Will you go after Churches next?  Bingo is a huge money maker for non-profits.. It's also a decades, if not centuries old, American tradition. And for non-profits it supports charitable assistance for the needy.

I humbly request that you re-think this decision.  Thank you.
