The new regulations, as proposed, would significantly reduce the charitable work we have been able to provide for the communities in which we live and operate. A charitable organizations’ operating costs regarding gaming (a share of wages, utilities, rent and maintenance) should be allowed to be deducted from gross proceeds. Even at that, 40% UOP would be excessive for a charitable organization to provide, as many are barely keeping in the black during these difficult economic times. A more appropriate UOP would be in the 10% range.
Many of organizations we support, including Youth Camps, youth sports teams, scouting, VA hospitals and programs, Food Banks, Meals on Wheels, Holiday Food Baskets, Shelters for Women, Ronald McDonald House, veteran and active military support...the list goes on – and it is extensive – rely on our ability to assist them financially throughout the year.
