I just can't believe that our great state would want to see so many great organizations close. We give so much to our communities. We hold fundraisers, provide the use of our meeting halls and so on. We have mostly volunteers but also need paid employees to stay open, We have utilities to pay, maintenance and renovation costs. We should be required to pay no more than required by Federal laws and the proposed 40% or even 30% would cause many of these organizations to close.
Does Virginia want to provide more assistance to food banks, blood drives, Boy and Girl Scouts? Does Virginia want to provide holiday dinners to more local families in need than now? Our Lodge, as well as other lodges and fraternal organizations collect "Pop Tabs" for the "Ronald McDonald" house. Our members and servers collect them and they are stored at the lodge until we have enough to make the 35 to 40 mile trip to our local Ronald McDonald house. This saves time and FUEL. We collect non perishable food items for local food banks. These are stored at the lodge until we have enough to take to the local food bank, again saving time and FUEL! We allow the Red Cross to use our facilities for blood drives free of charge.
We SAVE VIRGINIA MONEY! I think it's time Virginia realizes how important our organizations are.
Please limit our requirements to no more than 15% and make reporting requirements easier to follow.
