As a member of the Moose fraternity, I feel that the State is overly restricting fraternal organizations by not allowing us to use the gaming proceeds or at least a portion of them, to pay for utilities, wages, and operations of our lodge. We rely on some of these proceeds to keep our doors open as well as help our communities and Mooseheart and Moosehaven. If you look at the whole picture you can see that we are already restricted because only members can play the games. Please change the use of proceeds to 30% or less and let us use at least a portion for utilities and payroll, because we need electricity to operate the machines, employees to maintain, repair and supervise the machines as well as facilities for our patrons. We do not have a problem with the fees that have been put on fraternities but please let us use the proceeds as needed for our lodge.
Thank you,
Jay Frye, Past Governor Salem Moose Lodge 2573
