I believe that it is of crucial importance that registration for voting should be made as easy as is reasonably possible. Any step to make voter registration more difficult risks serious alienation of the people from their government and its institutions.  We are seeing the consequences in the streets at present, and it is foolish to give them even more serious (and perfectly legitimate) concerns.
