Dear Election Board Members:
I have been an election officer for several years. I believe our system here in VA works very well. We need to be encouraging voters to be educated about the election. I am distressed to hear that there is a move to become much more restrictive with the absentee ballot, especially with the signature. I understand there is discussion of disqualifying a ballot if the signature cannot be easily read. Most folks I know do not have readable signatures - have you ever tried to read a doctor's signature? I think we need to be very careful about making such a requirement; we don't want to discount perfectly eligible ballots for something like this. Perhaps you have information that we don't, but I have not heard of it.
Thank you.
