I am writing to oppose the proposed regulations. I am worried about the rights of religious and other adoption agencies that would be required by the new regulations to adopt children to homosexual couples- denying the child both a mother and a father. Many of these Adoption Agencies cannot support such a thing and may have to close their doors.
Religious and Faith based agencies should not have to adopt children to homosexual couples if it would violate their moral or political beliefs. They should also be able to place children with parents of their own religious upbringing, especially if that is the desire of the birth parents. Also adoption agencies should not be required to give children to homosexual couples if the birth parents or the children themselves (if they are old enough - say around the age of 7 or 8) do not want them to regardless of whether these agencies are religiously affiliated or not.
If the government wants to allow gay adoption, then they should do so in their own government run agencies, and let the private and faith based agencies create their own policies on this. Afterall the Church doesn't try to tell the government run adoption agencies what to do, why should the government tell the Church run agencies how to run themselves?
