If you make sexual orientation an invalid reason for refusing an adoption, then you will in effect putting all religious organizations who currently run adoption agencies will no longer be allowed to operate, because forcing them to allow gay or transgendered couples to adopt their children is religiously impossible for them.  It isn't right, and is an infringement on their right to practice their religion freely.
