Faith Based Adoption Agency regulation changes

I WROTE THIS LETTER TO GOV. MCDONNELL: I AM WRITING TO YOU AS AN ADOPTIVE PARENT TO A LITTLE GIRL WE ADOPTED IN 2009. WE USED A FAITH BASED AGENCY BY CHOICE. WE HAD A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE WITH THAT AGENCY WHO IS BASED OUT OF VA AND WANTED TO USE THEM AGAIN IN THE FUTURE. THE CHANGES THAT ARE ON THE TABLE WITH POSSIBLY NO LONGER ALLOWING AN AGENCY TO BE FAITH BASED IS A MUTE POINT. IT SHOULDN'T BE STANDARDIZED AND NOT ALLOW AN AGENCY TO SCREEN AS DEEMED APPROPRIATE BECAUSE OF CERTAIN MORAL OR RELIGIOUS BELIEFS. LIKE I SAID, IT IS OUR CHOICE OF WHETHER OR NOT TO USE THAT PARTICULAR AGENCY.  THERE ARE MANY AGENCIES THAT AREN'T FAITH BASED AND MANY THAT ARE. AS LONG AS THE AGENCY IS OPERATING UNDER THE STATES' LAWS AND HELPING CHILDREN FIND HOMES, ANY POSITIVE CHANGES ARE WELCOME. THIS SCREENING PROCESS SHOULD BE AN AGENCIES' CHOICE AND ALSO A FAMILIES' CHOICE ON WHETHER OR NOT THEY CARRY THE SAME MORAL OR RELIGIOUS BELIEFS AND MOVE FORWARD.  A CHOICE NOT A LAW. PLEASE CONSIDER THE CHILDREN THAT HAVE AND WILL BE PLACED IN LOVING HOMES VIA THESE FAITH BASED AGENCIES VS ONES THAT WILL BE LEFT ORPHANED IF THIS LAW BECOMES WRITTEN AND SOME OF THE AGENCIES WILL HAVE TO FORFEIT THEIR LICENSES AND POSSIBLY CLOSE.  THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND CONSIDERATION OF THIS MATTER.
