SNAP Interim Reporting

In polling my workers there is a consensus that the interim report should remain.  The workers feel that part of the problem as to why the customers are not getting the interim is because in some cases the customer has moved but, since reporting an address change is not a mandatory reporting requirement the customers are not getting the interims and the mail is NOT being returned to the agency(with a new address).

We should make reporting a new address a mandatory reporting requirement as it would cut down on delayed benefits and improve communication between the customers and the workers.

Workers should not be required to send a second notice if the interim is not received.  We should put some of the responsibility on the customer to report their address change and to check and return the interim and verification to the agency.

Seeing customers at 3 or 6 months is NOT the answer.  It will put a strain on the customer to have to travel to the agency more often when many of them do not have transportation or income for bus fare.  It is also not conducive to the workers who will have more people to see and interview on a monthly basis and will slow down timeliness of processing cases.

Please consider these along with some of the other reasons mentioned when deciding to keep the interim report or change the certification periods.
