Guidance Document Change: New and revised guidance modifications to Chapter C. Child Protective Services of the Child and Family Services Manual includes legislative updates from the 2022 Session of the Virginia General Assembly pertaining to the expansion of mandated reporters, individuals with a legitimate interest in child protective services and foster care confidential records, and valid reports of abuse or neglect involving the sexual abuse or sexual exploitation of a child by the parent’s or caretaker’s intimate partner. Additionally, changes to the manual incorporate federal and state laws as well as state regulations into the guidance; clarify existing guidance; and enhance guidance on meeting the safety, permanency, and well-being of children and families.
