I support the proposed amendment to Virginia State Forest Regulation 4VAC10-30-170 that will allow concealed carry permit holders the ability to carry a concealed handgun for self-defense in Virginia's state forests. As a law-abiding citizen, the ability to defend myself and my family while enjoying the state's forests is essential for our peace of mind and safety, and our right. There is always an increased potential of animal attack, rape and other violent assaults, child abductions, and other criminal type behavior by human predators in secluded and more vulnerable areas such as the state parks and forests. This provision is essential to help keep decent people safe by exercising our inherent right of self-defense without fear of breaking the law.
