Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to express my support for the proposed amendment to Virginia State Forest Regulation 4VAC10-30-170, which would allow concealed carry permit holders the ability to carry a concealed handgun for self-defense in Virginia's state forests. As a father, it is my responsibility to be prepared protect my family at all times in all situations. With the recent news of slayings along the Appalachian Trail, Blue Ridge Parkway and near Pandapas Pond, one must be allowed to defend himself now more than ever.
Also, It is crucial that hunters be able to protect themselves. State Forests present a much different set of circumstances than hunting on private lands. One has to be able to defend himself, sometimes in very unfamiliar territory. Also, this would enable bow hunters to have their weapon afield in the case that it was needed. It is my hope that this amendment is approved.
Thank you,
Jarrod Hines
