RE: The proposed amendment to Virginia State Forest Regulation 4VAC10-30-170 - I believe that the Virginia Department of Forestry SHOULD allow concealed carry permit holders to carry a concealed handgun for self-defense in Virginia's state forests. To disallow carrying of a concealed weapon within state forests when permit holders are allowed to carry a handgun outside of those state forests is not only inconsistent and confusing, but also infringes upon the rights of those concealed carry permit-holding citizens while visiting state forests. To essentially disarm law-abiding concealed carry permit holders within state parks is to deny them the right of self-defense on those lands and empowers those who might carry handguns or other firearms into state parks illegally.
