I have a concealed handgun carry permit that is valid in pretty much the entire state of Va. Why should it not be vald on dept. of forestry lands? Between me & the next Va. citizen who does not have a carry permit there is no difference what so ever other than the fact that I can carry a concealed handgun. i have the same right to self defense as any other law abiding Virginian ( any other law abiding virginian who meets standards can also get a carry permit). A concealed handgun permit has nothing to do with game laws either in or out of season, it's about the right to self defense. If I pull my concealed handgun out I had better be in the right or face criminal charges, same as anywhere in Va. Mandating that citizens must go unarmed anywhere is nothing more than an invitation for criminals to prey on those unarmed citizens, Because as is always the case law abiding citizens will obey the laws and criminals won't, therfore making citizens with restricted means of self defense easy prey for criminals and any place citizens are legally restricted from firearms criminals WITH firearms can rest easy knowing they face little to no challenge. These criminals are NOT finger printed & backround checked Virginia cocealed carry permit holders . In the interest of public safety concealed carry permits for virginians should definately be valid on state forestry lands
