To the Virginia Department of Forestry,
I am a resident of the State of Virginia and I am also a proponent of 2nd Amendment rights. I respectfully urge the Virginia Department of Forestry to support the amendment of the Virginia State Forest Regulation 4VAC10-30-170, to allow concealed carry permit holders the ability to carry a concealed handgun for self-defense in Virginia's state forests.
Those who travel in and through Virginia's State Forests take their lives in their hands when they do so. Felons, rapists, burglars, etc, can and have, taken advantage of the fact that a law abiding citizen cannot adequately defend themselves inside of Virginia's State Forests.
Thousands of Law abiding Gun owners in the State of Virginia who are legally allowed to carry a concealed weapon should be allowed to do so in a State Forest as well. It is not the Law abiding gun owners who we have to worry about, it is the people who carry guns illegally. Those who carry guns legally in the state of Virginia, do so without incident on a daily basis.
Please support the amendment.
Thank You,
Michael Fiumano
