I'd like to respectfully request the Virginia Department of Forestry to allow law abiding citizens in possesion of a concealed carry license to exercise their right to bear arms in Virginia's state forests. As a Sailor in our Navy I made a lifetime promise to defend and uphold the Constitution, and now as a veteran and citizen I plan to keep that promise. In my personal opinion this is an awkward request since the Second Amendment of our Constitution is very clear. To prohibit an American to exercise this freedom is not different from violating his/her freedom of speech or religion. Yet, nobody questions those rights. At the same time I respect the right of each state to set certain standards and regulations. I can only hope the Virginia Department of Forestry makes the right decision.
