Undue influence of utilities

To offset the increase in utility costs as we aged, we installed solar panels on our home a few years ago.  We could not be more pleased with their output.  However, it is disturbing that the utility company has the "authority" to limit production and installation.  If Virginia wants to be a leader in energy production there needs to be a favorable consumer attitude.   Every bill that comes before the Commonwealth is scrutinized in favor of the utilities and rarely makes it out of committee.  The SCC no longer looks out for the interests of the consumers, but to the interests of the utility companies.   Incentives to use renewable energy should be across the board with businesses, private residences and non-profits.  There should also be incentives for alternative energy companies to establish themselves here.   In addition our State should be working toward bringing our utility infrastructure up to 21st century standards.   No area in our commonwealth should be without the ability to have choices in utilities of every kind.
