Private entrepreneurs can find better methods

Governor Youngkin’s proposal is admirable and addresses several concerns. First, that of the citizens of this commonwealth to know that steps are being taken to deal with the threat of climate change in our state and this nation. The second is to come up with a practical approach to this challenge.

The means at hand are challenging, to say the least. The obvious solutions of wind, solar, and batteries are proving almost prohibitively expensive. The are successful, but only in a limited sense, which will obviously require much more time and expense to develop practically and economically.

A more obvious approach would be to encourage private entrepreneurs to find alternate solutions that will not, for example, render productive farmland useless to the commonwealth in altruistic experiments.

This is not a time to be throwing “good money after bad,” but experimenting and searching for better methods to achieve our goals.

Please excuse a Libertarian thought, but most government organizations do not have a good track record getting these “ground floor” plans off the ground.
