Strongly Oppose

I strongly oppose this VDOE guidance document. On its face, it seems fairly straightforward and innocuous, until one follows the links and discovers that homosexuality falls into the category of explicit or sexual content. Why do books with homosexual characters need a warning, but not heterosexual characters? If two same-sex characters share a kiss, it’s now explicit content? It seems the VDOE wants to passively codify bigotry into its policies by ensuring that there will be parental challenges to LGBTQ+ materials, and that can be used to remove the material from schools. This is simply another attempt to destroy public education.
