This policy is rational and gives parents the right to review instructional content provided by public schools, which should be well within the area of influence of parents. Children should not be exposed to content that includes graphic sex acts, or material that is so objectionable that a school board (e.g. Fairfax County) will shut down a meeting when that content is read aloud in public. Note that this policy does not ban content, but does correctly give parents the ability and right to object to teaching which violates religious and/or personal belief. Schools should stick to education and not program children with the latest popular beliefs about sex without the knowledge and consent of parents. I strongly support this policy and believe that it is very much needed.
