Whether parents like it or not, their children are going to encounter sexually explicit content outside their purview. I believe the classroom is a safe space for children to engage with this kind of challenging material alongside their peers and under the guidance of their teachers. This law is misguided, and I see it only serving to stigmatize the topics that are subject to parental censorship. This includes the potential to label LGBTQIA+ materials as sexually explicit. I would hate for a child from a queer family find that works that represent their life be taboo in the classroom.
