Including this “should not be construed as censorship” makes it feel even more like censorship. Are you trying to take away sex education? I’m thankful I had intelligent and open parents that allowed me to ask questions at all ages and answered honestly. A lot of kids do not have that and all of their education comes from the school systems. We need to be bolstering education system not prohibiting them. Because this bill is vague there may be many classics that children aren’t exposed to because a parent may deem unsuitable for arbitrary reasons. This takes away from teachers ability to help children become well rounded and educated students. Is the goal to create uneducated and easy to control subjects? Children have the ability to grasp and understand way more than this bill gives them credit for and will do nothing to preserve innocence. Allowing diversity of thought into children's lives will help them grow into productive adults with knowledge on a variety of topics. Teachers have been trained to educate, most parents have not. Our teachers are already underpaid and restricted, don’t allow the system to fail them even more. Our society needs strong public education to allow children the freedom to think for themselves.
