Parents must be notified in advance about intent to use instructional materials describing or depicting: "sexual bestiality, a lewd exhibition of nudity, as nudity is defined in Section 18.2-390, sexual excitement, sexual conduct or sadomasochistic abuse, as also defined in Section 18.2-390, coprophilia, urophilia, or fetishism.”

This guidance leaves quite a long list of subjects that can be introduced in a non-salacious manner without parents being notified. 

Let's have scientifically accurate, sensitive, and responsible instructional materials on sex and sexuality, including LGBTQIA issues, in classes where that is appropriate. Personally I'm fine with notifying parents if coprophilia is going to be a topic.
