I am a parent of 3 children who have gone through the Virginia public and private schools. It seems that the government, and school systems have lost their way. What use to be common sense, straight forward guidelines concerning inappropriate sexual content in schools, has now become convoluted, political nonsense. Regarding the proposed model policies, I believe they are essential in order to provide critical boundaries on what is appropriate and what is not.  These policies must be mandated, otherwise teachers and administrators will inject their own personal beliefs and mores. And, parents must have the right to review what their children are being taught, and schools should refrain from acting like parents are nuisances to be ignored.
