Thank you for taking steps to protect rights which are already guaranteed by Virginia Law. I do wonder why this is necessary since there is already a VA law which clearly states that:
"A parent has a fundamental right to make decisions concerning the upbringing, education, and care of the parent's child."
Why do we need "guidance" affirming this fundamental right. Why isn't Virginia simply suing schools that are already in violation of Virginia law by interfering with statutorily guaranteed parental rights which are fundamental?
Furthermore, why does Virginia law allow minors to make their own decisions regarding abortion, birth control and gender transition without parental consent or knowledge? Why is Section 54.1-2969 Subsection E on the books when it clearly conflicts with a parent's fundamental right concerning the upbringing and care of their child?
While I am happy that these steps are being taken, I wish Virginia would enforce the laws that are already on the books. Making this guidance only serves to validate the outrageous infringement on parental fundamental rights that that are going on all over Virginia in schools and Doctor's offices.
