As a parent, I expect my children to attend school to learn varying opinions that will enrich their mind through a variety of learning experiences. However, Cultural Competency training is a lens I do not believe my children need to learn through. I believe it is wrong to force this agenda on teachers and have the training tied to their licensure. I offer a resounding no to this proposal. Cultural competency training should be optional for teachers and their decision to not participate in this training should not be held against them in any way.
