As a young white person who went to Oakton High School in Fairfax County, I am for this training 100%. It is not only good for teachers to understand their implicit biases and to be culturally sensitive, it is good for all people. Fairfax County is an extremely diverse county, however, I remember the teaching staff to be predominantly white. In order to make sure all students receive equitable opportunity in the classroom, the predominantly white teaching staff (and all teachers, in my opinion) must go through this training. Frankly, if there are people that are afraid that this training is a veiled version of Critical Race Theory (CRT) that tells me they have no idea what CRT even is to start. Further, while we are on the subject, I think we should go ahead and start teaching CRT because there are too many people in this country who don't know and refuse to know our collective history - and it's destroying us. In conclusion, teachers are expected to do it all, without the tools necessary to be able to do so. This training is another addition to be added to their repertoire and will make them better teachers and people. School administrators should go through this training, too.
