Guidance Document Change: In 2021, the Virginia General Assembly passed House Bill 1904 and Senate Bill 1196, and was signed into law by Governor Northam. The law establishes new requirements to support culturally competent educators in the Commonwealth. The Guidance on Cultural Competency Training for Teachers and Other Licensed School Board Employees in Virginia Public Schools was developed for the Board to fulfill the statutory mandate to provide guidance on the minimum standards for the local training requirement.

No to CRT - No to CRF stop poisoning our kids

I have no objection to teaching history, even the ugly parts. However, CRT and CRF are not history, they are the result of a false construct that hurts our communities, our children and our future.  Math is not racist.  Please teach our children to be competent in language, math, basic science and life skills. Leave the social analysis to adults after they learn to base their opinions on analysis and facts - not the CRT and CRF indoctrination. Giving kids equality of opportunity and showing them that having a good work ethic is real life should be the priority.   Blaming mistakes of the long ago past to push equity in result teaches them nothing but dependency and a skewed view of the world that puts them at a disadvantage.  Do not dumb down our education system by eliminating tests and grades - that is not education, it is just babysitting.
