Guidance Document Change: In 2021, the Virginia General Assembly passed House Bill 1904 and Senate Bill 1196, and was signed into law by Governor Northam. The law establishes new requirements to support culturally competent educators in the Commonwealth. The Guidance on Cultural Competency Training for Teachers and Other Licensed School Board Employees in Virginia Public Schools was developed for the Board to fulfill the statutory mandate to provide guidance on the minimum standards for the local training requirement.

Inappropriate for teachers and our classrooms

Cultural Competency is a meaningless concept designed to deconstruct and demean American precepts of justice and law. Its Neo-Marxist concepts do not belong in teacher training nor do they belong in public schools classrooms. Our schools are failing to provide students with the basic precepts they need to function in society and yet our dysfunctional education "professionals" continue to come up with this sort of nonsense which only makes matters worse. Schools are not for social justice. Schools are not for identity politics. Our nation is founded upon an idea, not a divisive ideology focused on identity.
