Benefits Planning provided by DARS is a short term service while the waiver is meant to be long term or permanent. Many things that waiver recipients need are not included in the allowable activities. Furthermore, DAC benefits can most certainly help an individual gain financial independence as this may bring in more money to the individual. The individual would then be eligible for different work incentives which could assist with financial independence. There is a lot of confusion about plan year or calendar year for this service. 

The minimal allowable activities set forth in this service certainly do not allow many people on the waiver waitlist and part of the settlement population to access this service.
