The University of Virginia Faculty Senate's Committee on Faculty Recruitment, Retention, and Welfare supports the proposed amendment of section 1VAC 55 320(E) to include adults, other than spouses and incapacitated adult children, as participants in the Health Benefits Plan for State Employees.  Under this amendment, an employee who enrolls one adult individual for this benefit will pay the full cost of extending coverage to the other qualified adult.  Such a change would allow the University of Virginia to expand health care options for all its employees and their families.  This change would have a highly positive impact on both the recruitment and retention of university faculty.
