Long overdue

As I understand it, this measure would allow one additional adult per household to be added to an employee's plan at no cost to the state. If that person is paying his or her own way, what is there to object to? In fact a larger pool of covered persons should lower the costs for everyone.

Private companies in Virginia are offering it, as are many other state and local governments and universities in and out of Virginia, and they are drawing talent away from Virginia governmental and educational positions. They would not be doing it if it were not economically beneficial.

Those people who somehow tie this measure to the downfall of marriage and civilization itself aren't seeing the larger picture... that many more heterosexual individuals will be helped by it than will gays. I strongly encourage the passage of this measure to benefit all Virginians as we move into the 21st century.
