I think it is extremely important to allow this change to take place.  We live in a country where not all people are treated equally or have the same basic rights.  No one is asking to condone gay marriage people are simply asking to be able to have healthcare.  I don't see anything wrong with that and I think its time the commonwealth starts to see change.  Positive change for minorities does not come from a popular vote, it comes from educated people in power making decisions that are to create and extend equality for all in the face of the opposing majority.  This is why our founding fathers have stated time and again that a majority should never be in control of a minority and that religious freedom is to keep from our shores the war and blood shed that has stained european shores for centuries.  Keyword religious freedom not backing up one religion and forcing it upon everyone or excluding them from given rights if they choose not to participate in it.
