I know or have known many families who would benefit from legislation covering one other adult in the household. There are family members taking care of other family members in circumstances that include but are not limited to, a niece taking care of an unemployed uncle who does not qualify for Medicare of Medicaid), or adult children, usually high school seniors who are voluntarily living with another adult to be under safer/more stable circumstances, for example).

Preventing realistic and compassionate options to all because of personal values related to a minority of cases, should not prevent the Commonwealth of Virginia from providing nondiscriminatory benefits.
