Webster's defines "family" as a noun meaning : a group of individuals living under one roof and usually under one head.  I was taught in the public schools of Virginia that there are many different types of "families": nuclear, single-parent, and blended. I was raised in a nuclear household, but will always remember how my teachers made all types of families seem just as special and important as the next.

It would be wonderful for a state that teaches it's children to recognize and appreciate a variety of family situations to FINALLY practice what it preaches.

I am in favor of this change. I believe it is time for all families in Virginia to be treated equally.
