FYI, for any conservatives who are angry because this "benefits gays" --  gay people are not the only ones to benefit from this. And it's long overdue.

I particularly want to address the guy who complained, asking, "How many police officers will lose their jobs so that gays [ and etc ] can have benefits."

1)  Wow, that sounds morally superior, and like you're reducing gay people with your suggestion that they'r not worth this measure.  ( And  do you REALLY not know any gay policemen, with domestic partners? Wake up.)

2)  There are many heterosexual people who live in committed relationships... but who are not interested in marriage.  Many people today are non-traditional in their views about adult relationships.

Back to the main point... this is long overdue and very welcomed.
