Proposal Costs Nothing!

Obviously many of those who have registered comments on this site have not actually read the policy.

This legislation would permit employees an additional choice of health insurance coverage for either a spouse OR one (yes, that is one, as in a single person) "otherwise qualified adult" who has lived in the employee's household for 12 months and pays Virginia taxes on any income. Tenants and boarders are specifically excluded

Pay special attention to this part:  Employees would have to pay 100% (as in ALL) of the cost of premiums for coverage.  The cost to other Virginia taxpayers would be $0.00 -- that is, NOTHING.

Two-thirds of the top private employers in Virginia offer such benefits, as well as nearly two-thirds of the top Fortune 500 companies. They do so not because they are "delusional," but because good benefits enhance recruitment and retention of the best and brightest workers.

Don't we want those people on the job for us at the state level??

Anyone who claims who to be pro-life and opposes this policy is a hypocrite. As someone who values life, I want as many Virginians as possible to have access to good healthcare. And as someone who values public health (and the timely diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases that might infect me and my family), I want as many Virginians as possible to have access to good healthcare.

It seems pretty mean spirited to deny people access to healthcare when the cost to Virginia residents is zilch.
