This is an essential step for equal rights among all Virginians. Not just for same-sex partners, but for those who are heterosexual and do not choose to be married. If people are worried about the cost, then the only other step is to disallow all partner benefits from employers, so that spouses do not get coverage, and that is something that I believe most people would disagree with.

I applaud the governor for stepping forth with this.
