All debate and discussion on this subject needs to be checked with our state's constitution. To extend health benefits to "roomates" and any "partner" is clearly a violation Virginia's constitution. The primary reasons for our nation's constitution and each state's constitutions is to define our freedoms and to give parameters to lawmakers and policy-makers. Remember our state's constitution and every ammendment was voted by us - the citizens! I ask these questions to those who are willing to ignore the constitution for their own personal benefit: If you choose to ignore the constitution in this matter, how many other areas will you disregard the will of the majority? Would you be willing to concede to those of different views than your own who wish to disregard Virginia's constitution?
