As a gay higher education professional, I fully support this move. It not only allows the state to be competitive for the best and brightest at our schools, but also provides plain basic equal rights to everyone, regardless of sexual orientation. I just hope that the conservatives don't look at this in their blind fashion and claim it's only for the benefits of the gay population.
