Good For Virginia in Many Ways

Allowing state employees to include either a spouse or an “otherwise qualified adult” on their state health insurance plan is good for Virginia in many ways.  Many Fortune 500 companies and Virginia's top private employers are doing this now and Virginia will be better able to recruit the best and brightest workers for the state, instead of losing them to the private sector which offers this option.  That's just good business sense.  It doesn't cost the taxpayers anything because the employees would have to pay 100% of the cost of premiums for coverage. Also, health insurance coverage would be available to some adults and children who might otherwise be uninsured.  And it would give employees an additional choice of health insurance coverage available at their expense - not the state's.  Everybody wins. Nobody loses. Let's get this done.
