The proposal to expand health care benefits beyond marriage is a clear violation of the Constitution of Virginia.
Such an expansion of benefits, despite claims by proponents, has to increase the cost of health insurance for the state and consequently, the taxpayer. Increasing state outlays when the budget is already tight is not fiscally sound. State government needs to cut costs by eliminating waste, not expand more waste.
