Opposed to expanding health care benefits beyond marriage definition

I am completely opposed to this proposal for severals reasons:

1) Health care benefits are normally offered within the boundaries of "family coverage." Virginia's Constitution has defined marriage as the union of one man and one woman. By offering this coverage to arrangements of individuals outside of this definition (technically, it appears that coverage could be available for a single employee and his/her multiple roommates), this is a not so subtle attempt to undermine the definition of marriage approved and supported by the majority of Virginia's voters, which has now become a part of our Constitution.

2) Second, this kind of expansion opens the door to much higher costs and complications, ultimately resulting in cost increases that will be passed on to the taxpayers of this state. While I wholeheartedly support health coverage for every family member of current state employees, I am opposed to offering health coverage for a definition that by its very nature is fluid.
