A Good Beginning Toward Equitable Treatment

This proposal would make our state agencies more in line with higher education institutions outside of VA and private corporations within our Commonwealth.  For those critics who have argued that it would cost taxpayers to implement this proposal -- please read the proposal!  The total cost of the insurance would be born by the employee.  Furthermore, the program would NOT cover renters or tenants as some posters have implied.  It also would not violate the so-called marriage amendment as evidenced by a previous Attorney General's opinion regarding gym benefits at a state university.  The benefit of this program would be that children or adults, who may otherwise be ininsured, would have the opportunity to have health insurance.  Medical care for the uninsured in our state is astronimcal.  We should welcome ways of providing health insurance to our citizens, especially when it won't cost the state anything.
