I strongly (read STRONGLY) object to BOTH masks and vaccine mandates for BOTH students and faculty.
Students are in an age group where Covid-19 is not relevant to being a health concern for them. Literally 99.9%. They are young and resilient and capable of fighting viruses with their own immune system. With that said, their parents are able to have them vaccinated if they feel their child is at risk, etc.
Faculty are working Americans who are clearly competent and educated individuals. They are grown adults who understand the risks (this is the ONLY thing that has been consistently reported on for the past ~2 years; trust me when I tell you people are very aware). People have the right to make their own informed decisions based on whatever they know and/or feel is right for them, whatever they are comfortable with. MY BODY, MY CHOICE. You do not have the right to penetrate people.
Everyone has access to get vaccinated if they so choose; everyone MUST have the right to decline a vaccine (especially when this is not a serious health concern considering the survival rate is ~99.7%.
It should not even be a question. This should not be up for debate. This should not even be on the docket for consideration!
