Chapter II Change

Please note that a credentialing law was recently passed and has been effective since 7/1/2021 that requires payers (including Virginia Medicaid) to reimburse providers for services while the provider is waiting for credentialing approval.  Therefore, Chapter II of the Mental Health manual is no longer accurate. Page 5 states "any licensed provider..... must become credentialed with the FFS contractor and/or Medicaid MCO" which violates Code 38.2-3407.10:1 of Virginia Law - Reimbursement for services rendered during pendency of a participating provider's credentialing application. This should be modified to state providers shall not render services until after an application for credentialing has been submitted and received by the payer.
